about

The Great Big Susiepalooza Comp: Volume One, is a compilation CD that will benefit The Lustgarten Foundation, which is dedicated to raising money to fight pancreatic cancer (www.lustgarten.org) and help to raise additional money to hold a benefit show called Susiepalooza.

Susiepalooza was started in July 2015 after the passing of the compilation's organizer's neighbor, Sue Marchetti, who battled pancreatic cancer and passed away from the disease in the winter of 2014. A benefit show was held in honor of her and was comprised of local bands from Long Island, New York. The show was a huge success and over $3000 was raised for The Lustgarten Foundation. This year, the organizers of Susiepalooza hope to make this year's show even bigger and better and they hope to exceed their previous goal. This compilation CD is a step towards making this happen.

This comp would not have been possible without my two cohorts in organizing Susiepalooza, Maggie Friedman and Sarah Waxberg, Audrey Lew for helping promote the comp and brainstorm additional ideas for it, Jessica Tyler for creating the artwork, Chris Cave of Defiled Management for helping provide and connect us with several of the bands for the comp, and all of the artists, labels, and managers who contributed towards the comp. Thank you all so much for helping us honor a lovely human whose time on earth was cut way too short because of the vicious disease that is known as pancreatic cancer.

Track Name: Depressant - Descent Of The Snowbird
You fell in love and got pulled down.
You fell in love, in love you drowned.
I came down from higher ground,
I tried to fish you out.
I wanted to be your hero
but you found instead a heroine -
a femme fatale, oh so fatal;
chronic betrayal by a love unfaithful.
We drove around town,
scared, screaming out your name.
Our voices died in Fairer Fields.
All our efforts were in vain.
There is only so far you can bend, my friend.
The lines on your face read, "broken, broken, impossible to mend."
How far the silver spoon bends, my friend.
White lines before you read, "broken..."
You strayed from the tracks,
I wish you'd stayed the same.
Just a pinch to stay awake,
all our efforts died in your veins.
"And their sun does never shine.
And their fields are bleak & bare.
And their ways are fill'd with thorns.
It is eternal winter there.
